About This Project

The client asked 6FootMedia to create a culturally aware invitation for a seminar on cross-border trading that would take place in both Hong Kong and mainland China. Our choices of color (dominantly red and orange) and custom envelopment shape were driven by these specifications. The invitation was designed in four variations: English and Traditional Chinese (for Honk Kong seminar) and English and Simplified Chinese for Shanghai seminar.

The polygon shaped cards were produced on 80 lb. card stock and coated with nylon polyurethane for a rich sheer finish which folds well.  The cards fit into a custom die-cut envelopment which, when open, resembles a flower. When folded, the flower’s “petals” tuck neatly underneath each other to form a fan-like shape that is sealed with a circular label.

An electronic version was produced in Acrobat PDF format for email distribution. The PDF file contains Acrobat Javascript which allows custom navigation buttons and the ability to switch between English and Chinese with ease.

6FootMedia also provided designed named tags and a PowerPoint template with an accompanying soudntrack in Chinese: "Happy Valley" by Vanessa Mae who performed the song for the Chinese authorities during the ceremonies of the handover of Hong Kong to China.
